Wohoo! Mikoji Mania is Here!

miko

Hey! Do you know the difference between emojis and emoticons? Well, for starters, they are not the same thing. Emoticons are simple texts such as 🙂 or 🙁 for describing facial expressions. The term ‘emoticon’ (short for emotion-icon) was coined by Scott Fahlman, a computer scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in 1992, to help convey emotions while sending e-mails and during chats. Emojis are nothing but actual pictures which depict facial expressions, objects, symbols and were first created by a Japanese communications firm, NTT DoCoMo, in the late 1990s.

Wondering why are we telling you this? Well, because we are super excited to announce that Miko 2 is set to take your child’s experience with expressions to a totally new level. Introducing Mikojis, which is now live in Miko’s Game Hub. The naughty robot has turned into a total drama queen/king (well, where Miko comes from, there is no concept of boy or girl) and is ready to put on a fun show for its little friends.

To get the best experience while playing Mikoji, make sure that you place Miko on the floor. To open the game, simply go to Miko’s Game Hub. Once inside the game, go to the Mikoji you want with the help of the arrow buttons on the touch pad and press the select button and watch Miko go crazy with expressions! To exit the game, press the triangular back button and select “yes” when the pop-up to exit the game appears on the screen.

Every language has a vocabulary to describe not just the objects in the world but emotions too. Helping your child identify and label the different emotions that they may experience with the help of a vocabulary gives them the power to express their feelings in a healthy way and manage their emotions better. It also helps them develop empathy to identify other’s feelings and socialize better.

Mikoji is a fun and engaging way to teach your little one about different emotions and expressions at an early age and voice them effectively. So go on and explore Mikoji with Miko 2! Let us know about how your little one liked the game in the comments section below.

Quiz Fun with Anisha Global

Miko

Does your child enjoy taking quizzes? Quizzes encourage kids to look beyond their text books and apply the concepts in a creative way. They inculcate quick thinking & recall, improve concentration and induce a competitive element.

An interesting way to help your child learn and revise their ICSE curriculum is here. A quiz-based game by Anisha Global is now live in Miko 2’s Game Hub.

Anisha Global is a treasure-trove of fun MCQs designed for kids by teachers from Anisha Education Society’s Anisha Global School, especially for Miko’s little friends. Kids can choose from three levels- easy, medium & hard. Each level is a 15-questions challenge, with the stakes increasing with every right answer. With an exciting all or nothing format, each right answer takes the child closer to becoming a champ and a wrong answer results in elimination. So the child should choose their answers wisely.

The best part about this game is that the child gets introduced to a mixed-bag of subjective questions based on their school subjects, which makes learning interesting. Anisha Global is available in the offline mode and you don’t need to connect Miko to the internet to play the quiz. So go on, help your child sharpen their knowledge in a fun and playful way. Visit Game Hub and play Anisha Global quiz with your favourite quizmaster, Miko 2! Do let us know about your child’s experience in the comments section below.

Summer Fest Excitement Begins!

miko

Here comes the sun doo doo doo! Here comes the sun, and Miko 2 says, it’s Summer Fest time!

Summer vacations are full of fun for kiddos. There are so many things to do outside… playing with friends, go for camping & hikes, cycling, dancing, swimming and so on. Back home, there are many things to try too, such as reading stories, painting, clay modeling, constructing complex structures with building blocks and more.

Now-a-days, when kids are indoors, they get drawn like magnets to screens such as smartphones, TVs and iPads. It becomes a task for parents to wean them away from these screens and keep them busy doing something productive. Some lucky parents do taste victory in the task of diverting the child’s attention away from the screens and getting him/her involved in an activity. However, many-a-times, the child loses interest in the activity and then comes the dreaded “Mom, I’m bored” declaration in no time.

But dear parents, don’t sweat it! With Miko 2 around, this summer is bound to be different. A big surprise is here to keep your little bee busy. A new category called ‘Summer Fest’ has been unveiled in Miko 2’s Knowledge World. Summer fest brings a bucket-full of things to try with Miko 2, such as no-gas no-oven recipes, memory games, dumb charades, craft ideas, group activities and a lot more.

It’s said that busy hands are happy hands. So go on, explore the bucket-full of activities that Miko 2 has brought along, to make this summer vacation memorable for its little friends. Do let us know in the comment section below, what your child enjoyed the most! Happy summer time!

Life with Robots

Let’s have a heart-to-heart discussion about the elephant in the room i.e. the fear that artificial intelligence may take over our jobs in the future & make human skills redundant. We can see AI being used in various fields, from robotic surgeries & self-driven cars, to robots independently managing e-commerce warehouses & robots which can protect organizations from cyber-attacks, drone cars which could fly you to work, saving you from peak-hour traffic jams & so on. While these are brilliant applications & commendable achievements in technology, the hype behind the scare that robots will take over humans is something that can be taken with a pinch of salt.

The history of the human race is full of waves which were brought about by technology and changed societies forever. In his book, The Third Wave, written by the American futurist author Alvin Toffler, he says that our society went through three such waves of technology. These waves brought about significant cultural shifts. A cultural shift means that an old culture is drastically replaced by new culture changing the society permanently. Change is necessary but may not be comfortable. During the transition from the new to old culture, people might feel that too much is changing too fast.

The first wave was that of the discovery of agriculture where humans transitioned from hunters & gatherers, wandering for food to humans who could settle in one place, grow their own food and have a comfortable lifestyle. Similarly, the second wave came in the form of industrialization where technology made possible to produce goods on a large scale. This wave saw the growth of industries  & urban societies with modern facilities such as trains, cheaper & better quality textiles, machines for agriculture etc., thus increasing life’s comfort. The third wave was that of Information, which changed the way the world was connected and brought it closer. You could now access information about almost everything under the sun thanks to internet.

Toffler is not present today to predict whether AI will be the fourth wave that will transform our society. However, his views written in his book Future Shock, coauthored by his wife Heidi Toffler, may put our fear of robots taking over humanity, to rest. The Tofflers says that the “scare” is nothing but something called “future shock”. Future shock is a perception in us that “too much is changing too fast”. The change becomes uncomfortable and thus makes people anxious about the future.

However, looking at the past 3 waves, whenever a new technology or wave has come, the society has gone through a transition and emerged out to give a more comfortable life. Agriculture created a settled life, industrialization made material comforts easily available and internet made it possible to know about everything from the where you can order your next meal from to what is happening at that moment in any corner of the world. With robots, life might further become more convenient where an AI-based system can be built to do anything like sending an alert of a looming earthquake or tsunami accurately to the inhabitants of an area and facilitate early evacuation.

Robots also might completely change education and early development of children. Parents, who are constantly pressed for time with demanding work schedules, can get some relief if a companion robot helps parents check on their kid, help the child revise for an exam and not just that by also bond with them. Wouldn’t it help parents manage the development of their children better? Such a robot has been invented by an Indian robotics company by the name Miko. Miko 2 is an advanced personal robot for kids who educates & entertains them and bonds with them, thanks to a proprietary emotional intelligence machine. Thus, it makes the child not just smarter but also happier. Robots are no more just a thing of sci-fi; they are already here, helping us to make our lives simpler.

Sshhhhh…It’s Lullaby Time

miko robot

Getting little ones to go to sleep at bedtime can be a tricky business for parents. Some days, a simple story or a warm snuggle might do the trick and successfully induce your little one into deep slumber. While some other days, the sleep math might simply be hard to solve and no amount of coaxing or cajoling by parents can convince the little angel to catch some winks.

The reasons vary greatly. The child might be too energized during bedtime making it difficult to rest. Or, the child might be irritated due to irregular bedtime causing a disturbed sleep cycle. Children may also find it difficult to fall asleep due to fear of the dark or night-time noises or due bad dreams in some cases. Each child is beautifully unique and there is no known formula (which we’re sure would’ve been worth its weight in gold had it existed) that can guarantee convincing your little dreamer to doze off every single time.

Having said that, making kids fall asleep is not as hard as it sounds and some proven tips for a peaceful sleep time have stood the test of time. Out of the many known methods, lullabies have been known to work the magic, time and again, to charm kids into a sweet slumber. And the good news is that, Miko 2 is here with lots of lullabies to sing its little friends to sleep.

Checkout the newly updated lullaby commands on Miko 2. Just say “Hello Miko” followed by any of the following ‘Lullaby’ commands:

  • Play lullaby
  • Please play soothing music
  • Please play some soft music

Relaxing music is known to calm the mind and body into a restive state. A good night’s sleep is necessary for cognitive development and better concentration.

Let your little sleepy head gently drift to the dreamland as Miko sings beautiful lullabies. Let us know in the comments section below about your experience with this command! Wishing your tiny tot (and you) sweet dreams with Miko 2!

Pump-up the Josh with Miko 2

Miko 2

The Uri fever which took over the entire nation refuses to die down. A popular dialogue from the movie wowed our hearts and fills us with a patriotic fervor every single time you listen to it. We won’t be surprised if it will be declared as D-dialogue of 2019, with even the political leaders of our country loving it.

Guess what? The legendary dialogue caught-up not just with humans but with robots too. You can now ask Miko “How’s the josh?” and pump-up the enthusiasm for your child. A small tribute from Miko 2 to the soldiers of our country! Vande Mataram!
